Our couples and family therapy services are designed to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and resolve conflicts in a supportive and non-judgmental space. Whether you're navigating marital challenges, parenting struggles, intergenerational tensions, or major life changes, our therapists work collaboratively with all family members to foster understanding and connection. We use evidence-based modalities such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Structural Family Therapy to help families and couples build healthier dynamics and lasting emotional bonds.

Therapy for Clients with Extended Health Benefits

Nova Counseling Centre proudly offers therapy services that are eligible for reimbursement under most extended health insurance plans provided by employers, educational institutions (for students), and professional associations. Our team includes Registered Psychotherapists and Social Workers whose services are recognized by a wide range of insurance providers. We provide detailed receipts upon request, making it easy for clients to submit claims for coverage. If you're unsure about your plan's eligibility, we’re happy to guide you through the process.

Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Recovery Support

Being involved in a motor vehicle accident can lead to significant emotional and psychological challenges, including trauma, anxiety, and chronic stress. At Nova Counseling Centre, we provide specialized therapy for individuals recovering from MVAs, helping them process the emotional impact and regain a sense of safety and well-being. We are experienced in working with insurance companies and legal teams, and our services are eligible for coverage under auto insurance plans. Our therapists offer a supportive and compassionate approach tailored to each client’s recovery journey.

Judge and Gavel

Court-Ordered &
Forensic Counselling

Nova Counseling Centre offers professional forensic counselling services for individuals involved in legal proceedings, including those mandated by the court to attend therapy. Our therapists provide structured, goal-oriented support that addresses issues such as anger management, substance use, domestic conflict, trauma, and behavioral concerns. We are experienced in preparing documentation and progress reports as required by legal representatives or court systems. All sessions are handled with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism to support clients through sensitive legal matters.

Therapy for Refugee Claimants (IFHP Covered)

We are proud to support refugee and asylum-seeking individuals and families by offering therapy services covered under the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP). Our culturally sensitive therapists provide compassionate care to help clients cope with trauma, displacement, adjustment stress, grief, and other mental health challenges related to migration and resettlement. Eligible clients can access therapy without out-of-pocket costs, and interpretation services can be arranged upon request to ensure accessible, inclusive care.

Workplace Safety
and Insurance Board
(WSIB) Services

Nova Counseling Centre provides therapy services for individuals recovering from work-related injuries or psychological trauma, covered through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). Our registered clinicians support clients dealing with stress, anxiety, PTSD, depression, and other mental health concerns related to workplace incidents. We work closely with WSIB case managers to ensure timely reporting, treatment planning, and progress updates. Our goal is to help clients rebuild resilience, return to work when ready, and restore their overall well-being.

Canadian Armed Forces
(CAF) Mental Health Support

We offer dedicated mental health services for active members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), tailored to support the unique psychological demands of military life. Our therapists are experienced in addressing concerns such as operational stress injuries, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and family-related challenges. Services are fully covered for eligible CAF members, and we ensure a respectful, confidential, and culturally competent environment where clients can work toward healing, stability, and long-term wellness.

Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) Therapy Services

At Nova Counseling Centre, we proudly support veterans through therapy services covered by Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC). Our team is experienced in working with individuals who have served in the Canadian Armed Forces and may be facing challenges such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and difficulties adjusting to civilian life. We offer a respectful and trauma-informed approach that recognizes the unique experiences of veterans and supports their journey toward healing, resilience, and reintegration.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Support Services

We provide specialized mental health support for active and retired members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Our therapists understand the unique pressures and psychological demands of law enforcement work, including trauma, operational stress, burnout, and work-life balance challenges. Services are fully covered for eligible RCMP members, and we are committed to offering confidential, respectful, and effective therapy that fosters emotional well-being, resilience, and long-term recovery.

Indigenous Services
(NIHB Program)

Nova Counseling Centre is honoured to provide mental health services covered under the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program for eligible First Nations and Inuit clients. Our therapists deliver culturally respectful and trauma-informed care to support healing from intergenerational trauma, grief, mental health challenges, and life transitions. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space that honors each client’s cultural identity, values, and lived experience. Therapy services are fully covered under the NIHB program with no out-of-pocket cost for eligible clients.

Clinical Supervision, Volunteering/Practicum Opportunities

Nova Counseling Centre is committed to supporting the growth of future mental health professionals by offering clinical supervision, volunteer roles, and practicum placements. We provide qualified supervision for Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying) and students enrolled in counselling or psychotherapy programs. Our placements offer hands-on experience in a supportive, collaborative, and client-centered environment. We also welcome volunteers who are passionate about mental health and want to contribute to community wellness. Each opportunity is designed to foster professional development, ethical practice, and real-world learning.
